November 1st is a great day for a bonfire for one reason: leftover Halloween candy.
In celebration of Halloween, we covered our favorite creepy stories for you tell around your next campfire. Now it’s time to figure out what to do with all of that extra candy in a fun way.
Here’s a challenge for you. Invite your friends or family over for a campfire and see who can create the best s’more using the leftover Halloween candy. Check out our video here.
We grabbed some of our leftover candy for this experiment, but feel free to dip into your kid’s stash. Here’s what we learned from our experiment:
1. People underestimate the power of a MilkyWay.
I have to admit, I’m not a huge MilkyWay fan, but the consistency does not disappoint when it’s shoved into a s’more. Try cutting the MilkyWay in half for an easier bite.
2. Kit Kats are the ideal shape and length for s’mores.
If you’re going for it, why not opt for a king size bar? Slap the whole Kit Kat onto the graham cracker.
3. Reese’s in a s’mores is a combination of everything good in this world.
Smooth, meltable milk chocolate; soft peanut butter; crunchy graham cracker; and gooey marshmallow. I mean, what more could you possibly want? Spoiler alert: you might win with this one.
4. Snickers s’mores are complicated.
Want something a little more complex? Snickers will do the trick. Caramel and peanuts in a s’more? Yes, it’s a thing you can do and it’s a little weird to be honest.
5. Twix s’mores aren’t that gooey –
– but man, that cookie wafer makes up for it. Try this if you like an extra crunch.
6. Purists may try to throw your other candy in the fire.
Hershey’s milk chocolate on a s’more: traditional, classic, pure. Prepare for the one guest who refuses to play along with your little game because Hershey’s + marshmallow + graham cracker = s’more. Nothing else. Just humor these folks, but then add a Reese’s cup on top of your Hershey’s.
7. Apparently graham crackers on s’mores aren’t even sacred.
I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff this week. We’re talking cookies instead of graham crackers and ice cream in s’mores. Mess with this if you dare. I don’t encourage it, but feel free to send us your photos.
8. Anything is fair game.
What’s the best s’more you’ve ever had? Rolos? Butterfingers? Cookies and cream chocolate?
