Campground Description & Information

Hurd State Park is a 6.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near East Hampton, Connecticut that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. After a day of traveling through Connecticut, you can roll your rig right into Hurd State Park. It’s so convenient with the easy-on/easy-off access from the main road. The campground was built for camping and it shows. You’ll find roomy options of sites throughout the park – all friendly staff! Fido will love it with many places to explore. Although you’re not far from East Hampton, you’ll feel worlds away as you savor a brilliant spacious campground.

Local City Information

East Hampton is a town in Middlesex County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 12,959 at the 2010 census. The town center village is listed as a census-designated place. East Hampton includes the villages of Cobalt, Middle Haddam, and Lake Pocotopaug. The southern trailhead of the Shenipsit Trail is in Cobalt, and the Airline State Park has its southern trailhead in East Hampton, at Main Street in the Village Center. The 884-acre Hurd State Park, Meshomasic State Forest, and Salmon River State Forest are located in town. Comstock's Bridge, more commonly known as the Comstock Covered Bridge and the only remaining covered bridge in eastern Connecticut, spans the Salmon River near Route 16 in East Hampton. The Chatham Historical Society Museum and the Joseph N. Goff House Museum and Cultural Center are located in the town.

Many travelers choose to visit in the summer (May–Sep) when the weather is warm. Can be humid depending on the amount of rain. Summer rainstorms happen on occasion but mostly dry. Winter (Dec–Feb) is cool.
